This hotel in the heart of Locarno offers great value for money. The rooms, although on the smaller side, are spotlessly clean, and some even come with a balcony that offers an awesome view of Lago Maggiore. The staff is multilingual, friendly, and always ready to assist with any requests. The breakfast spread is delicious, with a variety of options including fresh fruit, yogurt, and freshly squeezed orange juice. Additionally, the hotel's central location, right across from the lake and on a plaza, is perfect for exploring the city and enjoying the beautiful views.
No room for improvement, everything was just perfect.

The hotel was in a very good central location in the middle of the old town and right next to the harbour by the excursion boats. With a great view of the lake. It was all very clean and well furnished. The breakfast was very good and you could enjoy it on a nice terrace. The staff was very nice and courteous. Every wish was fulfilled, such as extra pillows for the room. We arrived in the morning and were allowed to leave our suitcases in the hotel before we arrived at 3 pm and on the day of departure we were allowed to leave our suitcases in the hotel until our departure (4:30 pm). This is what I call super service. Many thanks again.
-The air conditioning was very loud and didn't cool much. -The bathtub was very high and very narrow so you had trouble getting in and out of the shower. You couldn't move around much to take a shower. This should be changed urgently with a shower because it is almost life-threatening to get in and out (For older people almost impossible).

Everything was very, very good, the ladies at the reception were extremely friendly. The breakfast is very good, specially the "Birchermüesli" was very good, also the choice of bread was phenomenal and the coffee was a poem. Very friendly lady at the breakfast also eggs can be ordered as desired. In the lounge you can read the newspaper and magazines in a comfortable way, in addition you can enjoy coffee, tea or water as self-service without extra charge. Also in the room we had every day water with or without carbonic acid without surcharge. Many thanks to the whole staff of AU LAC, even if we did not book the most expensive room, everybody treated and served us very friendly and courteous. The price/performance ratio was very good for us pensioners who like to travel a lot. We like to come again to Au Lac.
There's nothing we didn't like.

This hotel in a central and sunny location has very comfortable, clean rooms with a great view of the lake. The staff are very helpful and friendly, and the prices are reasonable. Although the balcony is tiny, it is a nice touch and the breakfast is good.
All was fantastic, no issues here.

I recently had a wonderful stay at this hotel in the heart of town. The location was unbeatable, right on a plaza across from the quayside, with stunning views of the lake from the balcony. The staff were friendly and attentive, going out of their way to make sure I had everything I needed. The rooms, although small, were clean and in good condition, and the bed was incredibly comfortable. The breakfast offered a good selection of fresh and tasty options to start the day right.
All was fine, no improvements needed.

Very advantageous location between Locarno railway station, Piazza Grande and the Lago Maggiore. Clean and aesthetic rooms with view to either Piazza Grande or Lago Maggiore. Very hospitable and attentive personnel.

Very comfortable, with a very good buffet breakfast. Well decorated, clean room. Friendly staff (which is very important)
Central position is excellent, downside is the noise from the street late at night.

A delightful family run hotel very close to the station, the ferry terminal and to the piazza. Our room had a gorgeous view over the lake. The wi-fi worked and was fast. The breakfast room was super clean, quiet and provided a variety of quality cold food. All the reception staff were very helpful and most pleasant at all times.

We loved staying in this city center hotel as it was in a perfect location to easily walk to everything. The staff were friendly and helpful, and the breakfast on the outside terrace was excellent. The hotel facilities were clean and well-kept, and parking was conveniently nearby.
Absolutely nothing.

The room had a great view of the lake and the mountains, which was truly breathtaking. We also enjoyed the fact that there were plenty of restaurants in the area, making it easy to find something to eat. The bed was comfortable, and we slept well.
There were a few things that we didn't like during our stay. The first was that the bathroom was very small and cramped.

The location. I chose based on the reviews and it did not disappoint. It was a short walk to the train station and the main shopping centre. It was basically across the street from the lake. We rented a car and the car rental was directly across the street in an underground parking lot. Everything was made so effortless by virtue of the location. My only issue with the hotel was that there were weird noises coming from the radiator and the air conditioning one night. I didn't enquire about it so never got an explanation. I am a light sleeper so things like that bother me. My daughter didn't notice. Otherwise, it was a charming little boutique hotel that I would recommend easily to people.
Just the weird noises one night (see above).
